1770 SUP is owned & operated by legendary waterman and pioneer of Stand Up Paddle in Australia, Chris de Aboitiz.
Stand up paddle surfing is a traditional Hawaiian sport which promotes balance, strength and general fitness. It’s a great activity for the whole family. It’s also a fun and exciting way to view the stunning waterways of 1770.
I love to grab a SUP about an hour before the top of the tide and let the tide aid my journey up Round Hill Creek. At the top of the tide the water goes slack and makes exploring the mangroves easy, and there is no better way to explore the mangroves than on a SUP! Then the tide turns it helps bring me back.
This is without doubt one of the best ways to get back to nature and a unique method of transport for avid bird watchers. Keep your eyes out for ospreys, white-bellied sea-eagles, herons and eastern curlews as you paddle.
If you’re more confident on the SUP you might like to head out to the sand bar and try a bit of SUP surfing? When conditions are right you can have perfect waves all to yourself.
1770 SUP caters for all skill levels and offers lessons, tours and board hire.
Chris can generally be found just east of the Tree Hotel in 1770 with his van of boards parked up for easy creek access 8am-5pm.
