Farmer Ron's Groceries

One of the best things about Agnes is being able to buy fresh, locally grown produce direct from the farmer. I love popping out to Ron’s Farm (only 5 mins drive from the Beach Club) a couple of times a week to catch up with Ron and Paul and pick up my groceries—many of which I literally pluck from the garden beds myself.

I often see little kids out picking strawberries while I’m there. Seeing how engaged they are with the job makes me aware of how disengaged we’ve become from our food as a society. It’s always beautiful to see kids connect with the earth and their food.

This is one of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint: no packaging, no transportation, no refrigeration. And if that’s not enough to make you feel warm and fuzzy, knowing that the profit goes directly to the grower might. Plus you’ll be surprised by how much you save when you don’t have a multi-national siphoning profit off the top!
