Bushwalks of Agnes Water/1770

1. Paperbark Trail

This is one of the most enchanting bushwalks you are ever likely to go on. Step into another world as you make your way through the Paperbark forest. The
stepping stones and board walks over the water make this one of the most interesting bushwalks. During butterfly season the forest
can be filled with literally thousands of butterfly’s.

To find this hidden gem follow Springs Road for a little over 2.5 kilometres from Agnes Water Beach Club and look for the large Reedy Creek Reserve sign
on the right.

2. Discovery Trail

No need for the car for this one! Start your walk from the Beach Club- head up Springs Road to the Agnes Water Museum and you will find the start of the
walking track there. This walking trail takes you through native bushland to the Agnes Water Lookout, where panoramic views of Workman’s Beach and
Agnes Water Beach are on offer. This is a great point from which to do some land based whale watching during the season from July to November.

3. Red Rock Walking Trail

This is probably my favourite walk. It is a coastal walk taking in a number of small isolated beaches broken up by a series of headlands. Absolutely stunning
scenery and it is very likely you will not see anybody else. The trail requires a reasonable level of fitness as you will encounter steep inclines,
boardwalks, and soft sand. Follow Springs Road for approximately 2.5 kilometers and enter the sandy track on the left, opposite the “Reedy Creek Reserve”
sign. Follow the track for 800 metres and park near the trees. Take the boardwalk down to the beach and head south along the beach until you see a
timber pole. Then follow the path from there. I promise you some stunning coast scenery along the way.

4. 1770 Foreshore

From the park at the 1770 Foreshore you will find a timber boardwalk that goes along the beach front. Gaze out to sea and imagine what James Cook must
have thought when he pulled up anchor here. From there continue along the beach until you get to the point just past the caravan park. Then take this
path up to the Captain Cook monument. Anywhere along this walk is a great spot to take in the famous 1770 sunset.

5. 1770 Butterfly Walk (Joseph Banks Conservation Park)

This walk starts off from the Captain Cook monument that the 1770 foreshore walk finished at and heads to the 1770 Headland, through coastal forest to
a spot know as Butterfly bay. Throughout the autumn and winter months, you will notice the magnificent blue tiger butterflies that the walk is named
after. In the right season they are here in their thousands.

6. 1770 Headland

This easy walk from the carpark at 1770 Headland where the 1770 butterfly walk finished from offers a very easy walk out to the look out at the headland
of 1770. If you look carefully to the north from here you can see Bustard head light house. This is another great spot to catch the famous 1770 sunset.
